Hi, I'm Sarah!

My name is Sarah Fourby and I hail from the rocky shores of the East Bay. From swimming in the ocean to raising fish as a child, the ocean and its marine inhabitants have become a part of my life and who I am. My love for the sea and California's beautiful Pacific coastline eventually drove me up north to the Emerald Triangle, where I attended Humboldt State University. After four wonderful and challenging years, I received my B.Sc in Biology (Marine Emphasis), with a Minor in English Writing.  My senior year directed study focused on the behavior and distribution of purple sea urchins (Strongylocentrotus purpuratus) along the Pacific Coast. My interest and passion to study  invertebrates eventually lead me back down to the Bay Area. In the seaside town of Tiburon and home to San Francisco State University's Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Studies, I am a current graduate researcher in Dr. Edward Carpenter's Microbial Ecology Lab, studying ocean acidification (OA) effects on the shell growth of Ruditapes philippinarum (Japanese Manila clam) along the California continental shelf.
